Where the name comes from
"Acrow" became a generic name for the telescopic steel prop, much like other brand names that turned into everyday terms. Today, acrow prop, adjustable steel prop, scaffolding prop and steel shoring prop all describe a steel tube support whose height adjusts with a thread and pin.
